Inaugural Orange County Beer Pong Tournament
Come join us on Saturday June 26th for a fun, but serious, tournament of champions in a sport requiring focus, discipline, athleticism, and, most importantly, alcoholic tolerance.
Tournament layout will be dependent on number of teams, but will definitely be double elimination, ensuring a minimum of two games for every team. Additionally, a cash-entry consolation tournament will likely be started around 7pm.
The intent of this tournament is to provide a competitive event for casual fans and moderately skilled Beer Pong-enthusiasts. This tournament will be a not-for-profit serious event with cash prizes, consolation prizes, and legitimate structure. The tournament directors wish to stress, this will not be a typical college beer pong "tournament" where it falls apart after 2 rounds because everybody is too drunk to continue.
Needless to say, with entry, all cups/beer for games will be included (one 72 oz. pitcher per game) and the bar and restaurant will be open throughout the event. No outside food or beverages, please.
The venue is The Cantina Lounge, a lovely establishment in charming Fullerton (conveniently located midway between LA and Orange County). After our tournament ends at 9pm, the place turns into a dance club, and there are several other bars/clubs/hotels in the area. There is a Marriott directly across the street for you problem drinkers.

Any rule disputes will be decided by the Tournament Director.
SIGN-UP: The best way to reserve a place for your team is to e-mail Amber Dubeshter at momentsofamber[at]gmail.com with your team name and name of players.

UPDATE:
Revised rules for Saturday's Tournament:
All tables are regulation 8 foot x 2 foot tables.
Set up is standard ten-cup triangle formation, with all cup lips touching on a level plane.
Death Cup (hitting an unfinished beer) will not be honored.
Captains rules (rules made between two teams playing) and Miracles (ball landing on top of cups) will not be honored.
All play will proceed according to the following:
Rules
1. Team with the shortest player has option to start with either (a) a one-ball turn, play would then continue to other team with a full two-ball turn or (b) to allow opposing team a one ball start and to take a full two-ball turn after.
2. The elbow rule will be gently enforced (elbows must remain behind the table's edge while shooting, i.e. no leaning).
3. Re-racks are automatic at 6, 3, and 1 into standard triangle formations (last cup is centered).
• Re-racks should be done as soon as applicable even in middle of turn.
• It is the shooting team's responsibility to make sure all hit cups are removed and re-rack is complete before shooting.
• Once a cup is hit it should be automatically removed from play.
• It is the shooting team's responsibility to ensure cup is removed. If cup is not removed and is hit again only that cup is removed (i.e. no "explosions" or "same cup" privileges).
4. If both players make a cup during the same turn, the shooting team is allowed one (1) bonus ball shot taken by either player. Maximum three (3) cups removed per turn. Only exception to rule is during rebuttal.
5. Gentleman shots are not allowed.
6. No defense is allowed (i.e. no "fingering" or "blowing"). However, once a ball hits a cup in play, it can be swatted away if not already sunk.
7. Bounced balls count for only one cup.
8. A ball interfered with before hitting the cups in play, counts as one (1) cup penalty for the interfering team.
9. If a ball touches any object not in play (i.e. removed cup, beer pitcher, wall, etc.) prior to hitting a cup, it is invalid. Only exception is if ball hits opposing player (i.e. "backboard") then cup is counted.
10. In the event that a player who has possession of the ball drops that ball into their own cups either accidentally or intentionally, no penalty is taken.
11. In the case that you accidentally knock over your own team's cups, if the opposing team doesn’t notice, they can be replaced with no penalty. If noticed, cup or cups are lost.
12. All efforts at distraction must remain behind edge of the table and may not cross into or over the field of play.
13. Rebuttals
• If both teams are tied with one (1) remaining cup, cup hit on first ball allows opposing team one (1) ball rebuttal shot by either player.
• If one team reaches last cup and hits with either ball, the opposing team gets one (1) rebuttal shot per player.
• If one team reaches last cup and hits with either ball, and the opposing team has more then one (1) cup remaining they get shoot until you miss privileges until game is rebutted.
• If both teams make last cup, game play continues to a three (3) cup overtime. Team that would have won originally shoots first.
• Overtime sessions will repeat until one team hits last cup and isn’t rebutted.
14. Any disputes over the interpretation of the rules or disagreements during game play should be presented to Tournament Coordinators for final ruling.
